Chapter 05 · Connected camper

One screen. The whole camper.

Home Assistant—the software that brings Cozy's systems together—turns power data and camper sensors into useful answers: what is happening now, what needs attention and what can comfortably run next.

Sparky, Cozy's whole-camper dashboard, showing power, weather, temperatures and tank levels

Sparky · the electrical dashboard

A full day, alive on one screen.

Sparky compresses 24 hours into one continuous view: solar production rises, the battery fills by sunset, night loads draw it back down and every supporting sensor changes with the day.

Why Home Assistant changes the experience

Energy in context

See production, use and remaining battery together before deciding when to cool, cook or let the sun catch up.

A real sensor network

Climate, fridge, freezer, tires, propane, water, weather and location can share the same interface.

History, not a snapshot

Yield, consumption and temperature trends reveal patterns that help plan the next day.

Alerts with meaning

Raw readings become warnings for heat, cold, low supplies, tire pressure or unexpected power loss.

Automation-ready power modes

The camper can understand its source.

These are configurable capabilities, not rigid promises. Their purpose is to make the correct behavior easier to repeat.

Off-grid mode

Can favor the Country Mod 24V A/C, keep shore-only equipment unavailable and tune alerts around solar production and battery state. The reserve is protected without giving up useful cooling.

Shore-power mode

Can permit the Coleman-Mach 120V A/C, recognize that the MultiPlus is charging and relax battery-saving rules. No one has to remember every switch.

Tilty · Cozy’s digital leveler

Set up without repeated trips to a bubble level.

Clear, directional guidance turns measurements into action. The same orientation information also helps explain how the two solar roof planes face the sun.

  • Front/back and left/right correction
  • Pitch and roll measurements
  • Heading and solar-alignment context

A cast of named views

Friendly names make complex systems easier to remember.

Each dashboard owns a clear part of the camper experience while still sharing one Home Assistant foundation.

Starlink extends the dashboard

Remote visibility. Family connection. Real work.

With internet available, a phone or computer can check temperatures, power, tanks, weather and alerts while away from camp. The same connection supports family check-ins and makes longer working trips possible.

Remote access depends on service, power and an adequate view of the sky.
