Casita owners have spent years solving unusually specific problems in Facebook groups, forums, garages and campsites. The Community Knowledge Project gives that experience a careful path into a durable, searchable public library—without losing the people, trailers and evidence behind it.
Facebook groups are living workshops, but their best measurements, repair discoveries and photographed projects can be difficult to find again. Links may require membership, search results change, and an isolated screenshot rarely explains which Casita or component was involved.
This project preserves the knowledge as a cataloged summary. It does not treat every post as a universal instruction, make readers dig through hundreds of comments for the conclusion, or reproduce entire discussions and photographs as though they belonged to the archive.
From post to public resource
Every useful contribution moves through the same steps so visitors can tell where it came from, what it applies to and how confidently it can be used.
Save the post link, author, group, date and the question it helps answer. A link alone is a lead—not yet a permanent public record.
Record the Casita year, length, floor plan, appliance model and whether the system is original or modified whenever that information is available.
Review the original post and its comments for corrections, alternate approaches, measurements, warnings, later results and the answer that emerged from the conversation.
Create a concise, searchable record with the central problem, approach, parts, measurements, cautions, outcome and credit—then link back to the complete discussion.
Compare the record with manuals, manufacturer information and other owner reports. Link it to every relevant system, model and search term.
Plain-language status labels
A community idea can be valuable before every detail is proven. Clear labels let the library preserve it without overstating it.
The original post or discussion is indexed, but Facebook login or group membership may still be required.
The original post and useful comments have been distilled into one readable account with attribution and a link to the complete thread.
The discussion contains conflicting advice, an unanswered detail or a result that has not yet been reported. The uncertainty remains visible.
Models, measurements or procedures have been compared with primary documentation or corroborating evidence.
What makes a contribution useful
A post link is a good beginning. The most durable records also explain the exact camper, equipment, result and permission to share. Missing details are okay; they can remain clearly marked as unknown.
Search what is already indexedA link or screenshot showing the original post and its date
The contributor’s name exactly as they want it credited
Casita year, length and floor plan, when known
Equipment manufacturer and full model number from the label
Original photos or documents rather than compressed screenshots, when available
What was changed, why it was changed and how it worked afterward
Any safety warnings, failed attempts or later corrections
A link back to the complete discussion so readers can inspect every comment
The guiding rule
Each record identifies the original contributor and Facebook group, summarizes the central idea and useful comment findings, and links back to the complete discussion. Safety-critical procedures are connected to model-specific documentation, and conflicting reports remain visible instead of being quietly flattened into one answer.
